Appointments

Consultations are by appointment. Our clinic operates on 10 minute standard appointment system. If you need more time with the doctor, please advise the receptionist when you make your booking. We will always try to deal with more urgent medical problems promptly.

When you are a new patient to our clinic, please attend the surgery 10 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time for practice registration.

This practice routinely sends SMS appointment reminders to patients.

Fees

The Medical Clinic is a private billing practice and fees are payable at the time of consultation. Pensioners, Veteran Affairs and Health Care Card holders and children under 16 years are bulk-billed.

The fee for a standard consultation is $70.00 with a Medicare rebate of $37.05 (out-of-pocket $27.95).

The fee for a long consultation is $105.00 with a Medicare rebate of $71.70 (out-of-pocket $28.30) by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS. A more comprehensive list of fees is displayed at reception. The practice now offers Medicare Ezyclaim: for eligible services your Medicare Rebate is paid back to your DEBIT CARD immediately after you have paid your account at the practice.

Prescriptions

It is practice policy that an appointment is needed if you require a script. Our doctors feel that it is best and safest for our clients to return for all script renewals. This allows for medication to be reviewed and your health to be monitored. Under exceptional circumstances a prescription may be written without a consultation.

Reminder System

It is practice policy to enrol patients for pap smears, Asthma, Diabetes, Health Assessments, immunisations, contraception, blood tests, blood pressure and cholesterol reminders unless otherwise advised by the patient. Please let us know if you want to be excluded from this system.

Results

It is necessary to make a follow-up appointment for results of all tests and procedures as these are not given over the telephone. In the event of a clinically significant result, you will be contacted as soon as possible to make a follow up appointment to discuss the results with your doctor. SMS requests are sent to patients to make an appointment regarding test results. It is not practice policy to notify patients of normal results.

Telephone Calls

You can contact your doctor by phoning during surgery hours. It is usually best for the doctor to ring you back so that other consultations are not interrupted.

Home Visits

Our practice offers home/institution visits for current patients who are unable to attend the clinic and live in the local area.

After-Hours Care

When the surgery is closed, our practice employs the Australian Locum Medical Service to provide out of hours medical attention, please phone 132 660.

In the case of an emergency, patients should dial 000 for an ambulance or attend the Emergency Department at Casey Hospital, Kangan Drive Berwick or the Angliss Hospital, Albert Street, Upper Ferntree Gully.

 

Feedback

We encourage patients to give feedback. Any concerns may be discussed with the Manager or Doctors; alternatively you may leave a letter at reception or use our feedback form and drop in the suggestion box. More serious complaints may be directed to:
