Melbourne Vasectomy is located within the Beaconsfield clinic and offers a modern contraceptive method to afford a good measure of protection by a professional doctor.

Here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions about vasectomies.

Q.What is a vasectomy?
A.A short operation usually performed under local anaesthetic at the clinic. The operation interrupts the delivery of sperm to the penis rendering the patient infertile.
Q.What does the doctor do?
A.He cuts and separates the ends of the narrow tubes through which sperm travel from the testicles. This tube, the Vas Deferens, gives the operation its name. This procedure takes 45 to 60 minutes.
Q.What is the cost of the procedure?
A.$750.00 payable on the day of procedure, Medicare rebate approx. $215.00
Q.Do I require a consultation with the Doctor?
A.Yes, patients need an initial consultation with Dr Dyer to discuss the procedure prior to the Vasectomy being performed.
Q.Do I need a general anaesthetic?
A.Most patients are happy to have a vasectomy under a local anaesthetic but it can be arranged under general anaesthetic if needed at an alternative clinic.
Q.Does the operation require any time off work?
A.Most can return to work the next day but it is preferable to have two days off, hence Friday being the ideal time. Sport should be avoided for 10 days. (Jobs which involve heavy lifting may require more time off work).
Q.Am I able to drive home after my vasectomy?
A.Yes, no sedation is given so you can drive yourself home after the procedure.
